Sean M. Flynn

Sean is a 1984 graduate of the Boston University School of Management and began his career in the financial services industry in January 1985. After extensive training with the Wall Street firm Dean Witter Reynolds (now Morgan Stanley), Sean became affiliated with his current company, Commonwealth Financial Network®, in September 1991. During his tenure with Commonwealth, Sean has also held the position of president with Century Financial, a division of Century Bank in Medford, Massachusetts. Additionally, from 1996 to 2002, Sean held the position of president with Clippership Financial Services, a division of the Salem Five Bank in Salem, Massachusetts. Sean had the distinction of being named to Bank Investment Marketing (BIM) magazine's "Top 50 Reps of the Year" for 2000, 2001, and 2002*.

In 1999, Sean was presented with the Commonwealth Special Service Award, a recognition "for achievement above and beyond" in one or more of the following areas: excellence in wealth management for clients, a track record of sharing with Commonwealth financial advisors and staff, and a dedication to giving back to the community. This award is presented to only one Commonwealth-affiliated person per year.

For the years 2003 through 2021, Sean was recognized as a Chairman's Level advisor—a distinction attained this year by just 4 percent of advisors affiliated with Commonwealth. Additionally, Sean has qualified for Commonwealth's Leaders Conference in each of his 30 years with Commonwealth.

In addition to having the Accredited Investment Fiduciary® (AIF®) designation, Sean holds a number of FINRA securities registrations, including Series 3, 7, 24, 53, 63, and 65.

Sean is active in the community and has held a number of board positions with local charities, including the position of treasurer of the Essex National Heritage Commission and treasurer of the "A Better Chance Masconomet" program in Topsfield, Massachusetts.

2000-2002 Top 50 Reps of the Year, created by Bank Investment Marketing (BIM) magazine. The 2002 award was based on data gathered within 12 months preceding the issuing date. BIM solicited nominations from its circulation base of U.S. bank reps (e.g., large, community, regional, and credit unions) over a period of several months. The consideration pool for this award is no longer available, but its readership base in 2001–2002 was about 9,000. Candidates were ranked based on assets under management, production, and number of clients, as well as growth in these three areas. This award is not indicative of the advisor's future performance. She joined Commonwealth Financial Network® in 2004 and continues to appreciate her firm’s focus on the necessary support and technology to ensure that she can provide the highest level of service to those she works with. Kerri’s passion is to provide her clients with an ongoing holistic approach to grow, protect, and manage their wealth.

Maintaining a work-life balance is important as a working mom of a 7-year-old & 5 month old, and Kerri believes it is the key to living a healthy, happy lifestyle. She stays balanced by getting involved in her local community and the CFP® professional community, and pursuing a variety of activities like playing volleyball, riding her Peloton, and traveling.

Kerri's market experience, coupled with a bachelor of arts degree in finance from Gordon College and the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER certification, which was obtained in early 2009, provides an advantage to her clients. In addition, she holds the FINRA Series 7 and 66 securities registrations as well as the Massachusetts life and health insurance license.

After spending more than 20 years in the high-tech industry as the founder and president of Computer Support Products, Rick began his career in financial services at Smith Barney in Danvers, Massachusetts. Rick's desire to provide his clients with superior products and services in a friendly and caring environment led him to join Clippership Financial Services, a subsidiary of Salem Five Bank of Salem, Massachusetts. During his 4½-year tenure as a vice president at Clippership Financial, Rick also served as a mentor with the Peabody Education Council to high school seniors interested in pursuing a career in finance. In 2004, Rick accepted the position of vice president at Bank of America Investment Services in North Reading, Massachusetts. Always striving to provide each of his clients with more comprehensive and personalized service, Rick moved his practice to Topsfield, Massachusetts, in early 2006, where he is an independent investment advisory representative of Commonwealth Financial Network®.

Beth Porter

Client Services Manager

Beth began her career in financial services in 1984 in the cashiering department at E.F. Hutton in Salem, Massachusetts. She was promoted to sales assistant in early 1985 and worked for three of E.F. Hutton's top producing registered representatives. In 1987, Beth was recruited to Dean Witter Reynolds to work in the Burlington, Massachusetts, office as Sean Flynn's sales assistant. Beth moved to Century Financial Services, a subsidiary of Century Bank of Medford, Massachusetts, with Sean in 1989 to become the financial services division's operations manager. Beth left Century Financial Services in 2003 to join Sean as client services manager at Commonwealth Financial Network® in Topsfield, Massachusetts.

Beth and her husband, Joe, live in Peabody, Massachusetts, with their daughters, Kayla and Mackenzie. In addition to spending time with her family, Beth enjoys traveling and playing golf.

Cassia Shoaf

Cassia first joined the team here at Commonwealth in September of 2018 as an intern pursuing a master’s degree in finance. She completed her BA in business administration and then an MS in financial analysis, both from Gordon College. Cassia enjoyed serving in a variety of leadership positions while at Gordon, including being a two-time captain of the dance team, resident advisor, philanthropic ambassador, and short-term mission trip leader, as well studying abroad at Jerusalem University in Israel. Cassia loves people and is grateful to be a full-time team member at the firm and eager to serve clients. She holds the FINRA Series 7 and 66 securities registrations as well as the Massachusetts life insurance license.

The eldest of three siblings, Cassia is originally from the Hartford, Connecticut, area and currently resides outside of Boston. In addition to spending time with her family, she loves to travel, hang out with friends, be active, see good movies, go to Disney World, and cook, and generally works on becoming a better “foodie”!
